The primary objective of this project was to inventory the miles of informal trails surrounding Trinidad, and reconcile those with parcel data to create a tool for the City to use for future trail development. Because the City does not have GIS software, THK Associates created an innovative set of Access databases allowing the City to prioritize trail projects based on a number of criteria, as well as identify properties (with owner information) that the City would need to enter into negotiations with. THK Associates also assisted the City with pursuing funding for trail projects.

In addition to creating the databases and the long-term Trails Master Plan, THK Associates developed and designed a new graphic to be used as the Trail System’s identity to be used on maps, pamphlets, signs, etc.
