Senior Planner

THK Associates, Inc. is currently looking for a Senior Planner with 8+ years of experience to join the Landscape Architecture/Planning department.  The Senior Planner is directly accountable to the Director of Planning and Landscape Architecture. Day to day responsibilities include due diligence research, lot yield studies, lotting studies, entitlement documentation and submittals in multiple municipalities, report writing, master planning, planning and facilitating community meetings, presentations before elected and appointed boards and commissions, and conceptual design, hand, computer and/or 3D graphics preparation.

The Senior Planner will manage and participate in all planning projects undertaken by the firm. Senior Planner may also be asked to assist with highest and best use documentation and graphic depiction, developing business opportunities and client retention.  Relevant planning and project management experience is required.

Candidates should have a strong work ethic, the ability to multi-task on multiple projects at any given time, utilize a variety of sources for research, review and comprehend regulations and standards, and produce a variety of different deliverables.  Additionally, knowledge of urban and residential planning and land development processes in the Denver Metro Area is required.  Additional skills that will help the selected candidate succeed will include good verbal, graphic and written communication skills; ability to organize; ability to complete tasks on set deadlines; ability to work in a team environment; ability to collaborate with multiple departments, and initiative to take on additional responsibilities.

Landscape Architect or Designer

1-5 years’ experience, including graphic production, landscape design, and construction documents.

Salary: $55,000-$75,000 , commensurate with experience.

The ideal candidate will have experience and skills with conceptual design, hand and computer rendering, 3D graphics preparation, taking part in public and client meetings and preparation of construction documents and construction administration. This position will also include delegation of production work to staff. This position provides exposure to all projects undertaken by the firm including both private development and public community driven projects and provides the opportunity to assist in the tracking of new business opportunities, development of proposals, fostering client relationships and business development tasks.  The successful candidate will be expected to be a professional registered landscape architect at time of application OR be near completing their licensure.

Additional skills that will help the selected candidate succeed include good verbal, graphic and written communication skills; ability to multi-task and organize; ability to complete tasks on set deadlines; ability to clearly direct staff on work product; ability to work in a team environment; initiative to take on additional responsibilities; strong hand drawing skills are preferred; creativity and vision on large and small scale projects and irrigation design experience is preferred.

  • Strong working knowledge of the Colorado plant palette.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Adobe Products and Microsoft Office. Civil 3D, ArcGIS, Sketch Up & Lumion are a plus!
  • Licensure as a landscape architect would be a plus.
  • Education and Experience: Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture and experience working in a professional planning or design consulting firm.

THK Has Moved Offices

The THK Team will be moving offices in September of 2024. Our firm has enjoyed many years of prosperity in our aurora offices, but we’ve decided that we would like to move to a space and location that would be better suited for our growing team’s needs. Our new office will be located in the Denver Tech Center at 5675 DTC Boulevard, Suite 200 in the Nilesene Partners building.
